How to disguise exercise as play

Children love to play, and disguising exercise as fun and games is the best way to get them to move more. They also want to play and socially engage with their parents, grandparents, caregivers, and other children in the home and neighborhood.

 

Here are some fun ways to incorporate more play into your child's day:

Find ways to incorporate a few moments of exercise and movement into your child's day. You don't need to set aside an hour or plan a long trip to the park if you can't find the time. Instead, you can sprinkle small play sessions throughout the day and continue to receive the enormous benefits of movement for both parent and child.


Create indoor games with regular household items such as laundry baskets, balloons, and balls. Create fun kid challenges that encourage your kids to complete movement in a game setting.
